When the air war phase of Desert Storm was finished, the ground war began. Companies of M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks raced across the Kuwaiti desert to engage the entrenched Iraqi forces, including the famed Republican Guard. In this battle the Coalition has the advantage in armor and air power, but the Iraqis have been digging in for weeks. The ground is littered with evidence of the air war, and the Iraqis have begun putting oil wells to the torch. It's going to be the mother of all battles.
